Meet our team!
Michelle (she/they) is a Chinese Indonesian graphic designer based in Jakarta. She loves cinema too much for her own good, and is trying to channel that passion into film criticism. Her hope is to see film taken seriously in Southeast Asian spaces, not just as an art form, or commercial product, but as an expression that perpetuates social change.
Mika (she/they) is a queer Japanese-American graphic designer with a passion for self-publishing, ESEA culture, food, land, and communal design. On the re:wave project they engage in art direction and design scope through mentorship.
Fairuza Hanun (they/them) is a queer, Muslim Indonesian writer and advocate for dis-epistemology and alternative narrative-based pedagogies in childhood care. Their work revolves around creating accessible education programs and nurturing queer-affirming safe spaces for queer and questioning children. Alongside their students, they like to experiment with storytelling and story-making to implicitly navigate censorship and reclaim youth autonomy in the process.
Jingjing (she/they) is difficult to define. A physical and cultural nomad, they move through the liminal, seeking to challenge boundaries not only of race, gender, and sexuality but also of nations through acts of crossing, and of disciplines by weaving together science, art, and the humanities with the technical and the poetic.
Sarah (she/her) is a Peranakan Singaporean curator and postgraduate student based in London. Through the intersection of art curation and community organising, she explores alternative methods of archiving underrepresented histories through a variety of forms from zine making to film programming. She is also an avid Sims lover with over 2900 hrs in the Sims4
Aika (they/them) writes, translates, and organises in search of alternative ways of relating and connecting that are non-hierarchical and oriented towards collective liberation. Aside from reading, writing, and brainstorming/daydreaming, they enjoy cooking aubergine, spending time with frogs, and thinking about and with empty chairs.
Shameeta (she/her) is a lesbian, Indian Malaysian researcher in community-based public health. She enjoys music and writing about music. She is currently on a journey of music discovery away from algorithms. Scoring only a few marks off the criteria for ADD, she lives in spiral time. Her Sister, Ruby, helped her write this bio. Thank you Ruby.
